Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
20 years
What is your primary product or service?
Creating new visual branding and brand messaging, evolving established brands, revamping tired brands, building brands through clear, consistent design and marketing communications, solving clients problems with impactful design and brand strategies.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I’m a natural born artist and have an innate drive to create. My background is in fine arts and a practicing artist. For my business, I’ve developed a design aesthetic that is unique, has a broad appeal and at the same time is custom for the client and their target audiences. In the past, I’ve worked in publishing, incentives, marketing communications and with small agencies. All these experiences have helped shape my business.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
In past job experiences and as an owner of a branding design studio, I’ve worn and still wear many hats. This makes me a very well-rounded, resourceful art director and designer. I love research and diving deep into understanding a client’s business (or non-profit) to really get to know them, their beginnings, where they want to go, what works and what doesn’t for them. I research their markets and audiences. I research the competition. Research bring authenticity to the design and is far more effective in solving a client’s problem and reaching their objectives. Everything I create has a great deal of thought and process behind it, every element has purpose and meaning. Design for me is not just about making things look pretty, it’s about making things effective, meaningful, establish awareness, connections and ultimately ROI for the client.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I have one location, primarily where I work, but also function as a “virtual agency” collaborating with other professional talents such as writers, photographers, video producers, marketing strategies, etc. to fulfill larger multi-layered projects.
What type of payments do you accept?
Check or through PayPal
Which areas do you service?
While my clients are primarily in the Twin Cities area, because of technology and the Internet, I can work with anyone, anywhere in the world.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Kristin Maija Peterson
What are your hours of operation?
Office hours are typically 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday, but often conference call after hours depending on people’s schedules.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
“You make us look so good.” “You “get us” and we love, love, love what you have created for our business.” “Now my business feels real.” “You’ve become our marketing arm of our business.”
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
Oh so many favorite quotes, hard to pick one. But if I have to it would be “Ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in.” —Leonard Cohen
