GTCYS ('GIT-seez') provides educational orchestra programs for music students across the metro area.
In the conviction that music nourishes the mind, body, and spirit of the individual and enriches the community, the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies provides a rigorous and inspiring orchestral experience for young musicians.
Each year, nearly 700 beginning to highly advanced string, woodwind, brass and percussion students audition for a place in one of GTCYS’ newly expanded, eight academic-year orchestras. Members range in age from 8 – 18 and come from all parts of the metro. Because GTCYS’ seven orchestras range from elementary to pre-professional, we have a high placement rate for students of all abilities.
